Keep It Moving… (11-30-2010)

A zest for life isn’t always an easy way to live, but it’s the only way to live.  Ambition never allows the motivated to lay with eyelids at half-mass for long, and no amount of reasoning will counteract it’s efforts to pull one through those moments of inactivity…. where doubt and discouragement fester.  Rest if you must, be prepared to keep it moving….

2011 “A Touch of Grace” first confirmed guest author, Christian Black

Without a doubt, 2010 has been a year filled with triumphs and lessons learned the hard way.  It was a transitional experience where credibility was fostered, and dependability was solidified.  My introduction to blog talk radio was not by chance, because I am one who strongly believes in things happening for a reason.  When Robert Wesley Branch asked me to interview on his March and April shows I was honored, thrilled, and very green about the whole concept, but his patience and mentoring presented me with new challenges that allowed me to step into the producing arena.  Instead of being the one who was just being  interviewed, I was given the freedom and honor of reaching out to authors for the authors segment of The Robert Wesley Branch Show.  It was Robert who pointed out to me that I had produced those successful string of shows during that span of time this summer, and when it seemed as if I was getting comfortable riding on his coat-tails, another opportunity presented itself — hosting my  own talk show.

A Touch of Grace” became a reality on September 2nd, 2010.  Since that date an impressive list of talented authors have spent an hour of their busy schedules with me and have delighted listeners with stories outlining their incredible literary lives.   To date, the show has had over 3000 views and it’s popularity is increasing as the days pass.  I’ll never forget that first show, because I was overcoming a personal hardship that challenged me emotionally and spiritually, but one thing that rang true, the show had to go on, and it did.  When I listen to the archive of the show I cannot tell that I was going through a painful experience, so I believe that it was a sign that I was made to do this.

With the calendar falling swiftly on 2010, I am filled with hope, inspiration, and optimism about my future in radio as a literary personality.  The final shows for 2010 have been confirmed, and the authors on board for the ride are an impressive collective, fueled by personal experiences and creative ambition.  I am deeming the December shows as the Hopeful Trinity Edition based on the courageous authors I’ll be interviewing.

The former police officer who retired, got addicted to crack, who rebounded and wrote the riveting autobiography, “The Dopeless Hope Fiend“, the humble humanitarian who has fostered over 60 children and wrote the inspiring novel, “The House With Dirt Walls“, and last but certainly not least, the gifted poetess who has written and published 3 uplifting books of poetry are all definitions of selfless dedication to the craft of writing.  I suppose with a guest list like this, “A Touch of Grace” is truly turning out to be a platform for those inspired to motivate and put positivity out there into the hearts and soul of the hopeful.

2011’s first confirmed author is, Christian Black, a young, ambitious, and gifted African-American writer who wrote and published the gritty novel “Pleasures & Sin” (The Story of Cedric C.J. Jones).  I’ve had the pleasure of networking with Black over the past several months, and have learned much from him.  The late literary superstar, E. Lynn Harris, apparently saw something special in him as well, because prior to his death, he had taken Christian under his successful wings and was pushing him to step out on faith and be confident in his writing ability.  The outcome yielded a novel and, currently in progress, is the sequel to his first book.

The date will be finalized soon, and once it has been I will be posting the date and time of Christians’ appearance on “A Touch of Grace”, but in the meantime, stay blessed, focused and hopeful.

In the inspiring words of Marvin Sapp, remember, “He saw the best in me…when everyone else around me could only see the worst in me… he only sees me for who I am…”

“Grateful that I can…” (11-26-2010)

Rising up from the ashes of discouragement and soaring into a new realm of existence feels like the first colorful burst of meadow flowers at the birth of a new spring.  It’s refreshing and spiritual.  I refuse to ask why I have to hit it the day after Thanksgiving, instead I’ll give Thanks and be grateful that I can…

“A Touch of Grace” Interview with writer/poetess Fiordaliza Charles

The heart of a poetess is vast with an emotional river that runs deep and constant.  There are those with an innate ability to connect and express themselves using the gift of written word to expand and touch that innermost feeling within, and those are a collective comprised of inspirational elements.  In their hearts are phrases and sentences that become part of this flow where sensitivity and creativity align with the sole purpose of imitating the pulse inside the vein, the beat within the heart, and the imagination of the beholder.

Fiordaliza Charlesstory is one of adversity overcome — the language barrier was a small bump in the road for this gifted young lady, who not only set out to write, but also had the courage to share her writings with the world.  She has authored and published not one or two, but three books; two that are available on Amazon.  “My Poetic Heart” and “Poetic Embrace” are currently in circulation, and a third “Poetically Kissed (Volume 1) will be joining them soon.

On Friday, December 10th, 2010 at 6pm PST and 9pm EST, spend an hour with me on “A Touch of Grace” and get to know this gifted poetess.

2010 has been an extraordinary year for “A Touch of Grace“…currently 3000 visitors have dropped by to listen in or sniff around to see what all the hype is about.  Well, as the producer of this rising blog talk radio show, all I can say is that the authors featured are amongst the best in the business and I’d pay careful attention to their names, because one or more of them are destined for literary superstardom.

Skies the limit!

“A Touch of Grace” Interview with Author & Humanitarian, Elaine Newkirk

A humanitarian is a selfless individual with warming arms that hold those in need of hope tightly.  Their hearts are touched by God’s very Grace, and in the center of their smile all that is divine can be seen.  This description of an Angel best defines an incredible writer who goes by the name of Elaine Newkirk.  She authored the heartwarming book, “The House With Dirt Walls“, and within her inspiring list of accomplishments she is also parent extraordinaire.  With one biological child, she also opened her home up to four pre-adoptive children (with disabilities).  Over the past ten years she has fostered sixty others in a quest to make lives better for youth in need.

Without a doubt, she is extraordinary.  In addition to her novel, she has also written 4 screen plays ( Two feature-length and two television sitcoms).    Her list of accomplishments also include Ordained Minister through The World Council of Independent Christian Churches, and a guest appearance on The Dr. Phil Show.

On Saturday, December 4th 2010 at 6:00pm PST and 9:00pm EST, “A Touch of Grace” has the honor of having her as a featured guest on the show, and as the producer and host of the show I will say with the utmost confidence; this is one hour that you definitely don’t want to miss.
