I remember having all of these dreams and ambitions when I  was aged just single digit

I recall feeling so isolated and different, wondering where I fit in.

My literary endeavors are composed to inspire anyone feeling different or displaced.

This longtime friend I recently hooked back up started disclosing how our mutual friend talked about me negatively;

My response was this…

we all talk about each other;

then I shared my strong belief about karma returning the energy projected.

Both of them now have debilitating ailments, and I am not suggesting anything, but I do believe that I am in their lives for a reason…

To gain a valuable lesson about people…

some people will never appreciate your spirit…

Not even when you save their life…

It is what it is.

Mental freedom is priceless… _~GD

I remember what it was like being afraid and hiding in the shadows; being preached to relentlessly about what an abomination I was.

I remember taking the pills because I wanted to end all the anguish, the guilt, and the shame.

I remember perpetrating a fraud just to feel included in “normal” society…

I want the young ones living in fear to appreciate who they are, and to know that creation makes no mistakes.

As a straight male, I don't even pretend to know what someone like Jason Collins must have been going through, living a secret life as a gay man while an active player in the NBA.

This isn't like grief. It's not a few quiet moments at a funeral home, when someone goes up to a relative of the deceased and offers some trite comments of "Hey, I've been there," just because that person has also experienced the death of a loved one.

I remember seeing a picture of President Obama with his legs kicked up on a table, and he had worn soles. That picture just stuck in my mental cavity as I move forward.

He is about making a difference, not presenting an image, and he’s one of the most powerful men in the world.

I’m wearing my tattered shoes tomorrow with pride, because it’s not about the shoes you wear, it’s about how you show up.

The road to recovery has been long and dark at times, but I am living proof that the path of happiness begins with embracing who you are.

I had to analyze my life and rebuild a spirit that had almost died, just because it had been infected with ideals and principles that invoked hatred.

Today, I am confident enough to respect the opinions and religions of others, because I believe that spirituality is an essential part of the soul.

I know that it isn’t the concept that  is corrupt, it is the interpretation of it that is being exploited.

I wasn’t here thousands of years ago to bind without question; all I have is my common sense and what I feel inside my heart.

Life has willed me with something more precious than wealth; it has blessed me with an unyielding appreciation for diversity, and mental freedom that not even money can buy.

To excel in spite of oppression grants access to dreams some see, but never follow.

When I am at a concert… I am lost in the experience…

I don’t care about your status; if you’re an asshole, I separate it from your music, and will always love it…

Entertainers are people. Najee is one guy, a brilliant musician… I’ll never forget, Woodminster Theater… that night… he blew his horn… it was magical…

Musicians know who are there for the music, and not there for their celebrity…
