“Powerful Keys” – an introspective by Author G D Grace

A Lack of communication leads to many “Misses” – Misunderstanding, Misinformed, Misleading etc… which can cause reactions of: Defensiveness, Anger, etc… And buried in the layers of all that lack of communication lies the infective culprits I define as prejudgment and assumption.
Deeper within those layers are insecurity and feelings of inadequacy — lies that block the light. I have found that, too often, we get in our own way and when we get stuck in our preconceived notions about people, places, things, and the ulterior motives of possible opportunities, we block our blessings.
It takes courage to admit personal weaknesses, but I have found that when we do face our fears instead of keeping them concealed within our own minds, we allow ourselves to be in that vulnerable state where the magic of personal growth happens. This is no pulpit preaching I share, it’s just an epiphany I seem to have been in the midst of all year, and I wanted to put it out there. Sharing ideas and thoughts is one powerful key that can unlock the door of infinite possibilities, and we all have our own set of keys. We all have the power of using those in our possession ~GD

The Dontá Show (blog)

When you thirst what is the first thing you reach for? Matter of fact, what are you sipping on as you read this blog? Depending on the time of day you are more probably indulging on a hot cup of coffee, or basking in the afterglow of an iced cold Pepsi or Coke. As a person who loves the carbonated bliss of fresh out the fridge 7-Up, I must constantly remind myself that water is a very important drink that I cannot overlook. Many of us ignore the required intake and consider the ice in the glass as part of our daily requirement. It’s time to make a change.

Why exactly do we need water? Better yet, why do you need SO MUCH water? I stopped by a few websites and did a little research. Here is what I discovered:

A lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs…

“Useful Wisdom” an introspective by Author G D Grace

I never knew how essential following a calender was until I actually started following one.

In all honesty, if you have many tasks to juggle and deadlines to meet it’s an activity worth engaging in.

Planning a schedule is similar to putting together a jigsaw puzzle, because every task has it’s place in the grand design of the time continuum.

This is something I wish I had learned early in life, but better late than never — you’re never to old to fine tune self.

Useful Wisdom can be identified as an occurrence that brightens the light within the spirit and heightens new awareness in the soul, and it’s something that should be shared and passed on to the generations that follow.

Useful Wisdom rots when it isn’t used.

“Blogging” – an introspective by Author G D Grace

A blog is one of the coolest outlets for the writer and all thinkers who like sharing thoughts about people, places, things.  A personal blog is an extension of your creativity and insight.  I started my blog back in 2009, and I stumbled upon “blogging”  by accident. I wrote my very first book, chapter by chapter, on a blog and didn’t even know what a blog was.

There are many free platforms to express yourself and promote your works, and “blogging” is one of them.  You can establish your own following and network with others for “free”.  At the encouragement of my colleague and networking friend, Blaze Reviewz, I decided to chuck inhibition to the side and stop assuming that others knew about what is available.  Never in time has so much “free” been available for us to follow our dreams.  I promote my novels, as well as, “re-blog” others works on my blog.  It’s a way of supporting others, and sharing is caring.

If you are interested in starting your own blog, then check out the options available with WordPress.  Again, it’s free.  There are other options available there that will allow you to do more, but on my budget, “free” is good.  It’s great for those who don’t have a website.  Here’s the link, and enjoy. (No, I don’t get paid for doing this either).  (smile).  ~GD

“The Shelves of Our Lives” – an introspective by Author G D Grace

The shelves of our lives house an inventory filled with past, present and future experiences.
Intermingled amongst that colorful array of items are those labeled people, and quite a few have expiration dates.
If there are any that have exceeded those dates they must be removed from the shelf, for they have become stale.
The ones without a date contain imperishable contents like encouragement, unconditional love, support & faith.
Those are the keepers that are the perfect blend that will always enrich a life.
Take special care and remove anything that is beyond the expiration date.

One Pair of Hands, by Monica Dickens

Blogging for a Good Book

The popularity of Downton Abbey and Upstairs Downstairs has brought interest back to old books like Below Stairs,  first published in 1968, and Rose, My Life in Service from 1975, not to mention older TV series like Flambards.

Another half-forgotten book in this category is Monica Dickens’s One Pair of Hands from 1939. Monica Dickens was the great-granddaughter of Charles Dickens, but this isn’t her main claim to fame in her series of books about her forays into the working world in the 1930s.

Monica Dickens is unusual in the stable of domestic servant memoirists as she didn’t have to take on domestic servitude to prevent herself or family from becoming destitute. She came from a wealthy family and was a debutante who came out with all the glamour of a debutante ball. She became bored with her social existence and thought, “Surely… there is more to life than…

Write a Story with Me #21 – Wait. Huh? What was that last line? with Susan Roebuck

Jennifer M Eaton

Susan Roebuck does the impossible — finding a way to glue this baby all together into one storyline.  Take it away, Susan!  I am Soooo glad I’m not next — but I feel explosions coming!

20- Susan Roebuck

Marci awoke to someone saying, “Two hundred feet above the waves, Commander.”

“Good. Now get below and tell the troops to get ready. I must get back to the Bridge. I’m sorry about all the jolting – the Precipice is always a dangerous place.”

Marci cracked open one eye. She was in the air-lock bubble at the top of the ship, its transparent dome had been pushed half back so she could breathe fresh air. So different to the chemical-filled atmosphere of Argot.

High above specks flew in a V-shape. As she stared a dot at the front broke formation and zoomed down in a breathtaking spiral. Another dot joined him and…

Frank Ocean Reflects On This Summer’s Revelation With GQ

The Urban Daily

As the world awaits the inevitable — Frank Ocean scoring major Grammy nominations come Dec. 5 when they’re announced — GQ has an interesting new Q&A about the rising singer-songwriter. In Ocean’s back and forth, he reflects on the now infamous revelation about his love life made earlier this summer, and refuses to peg himself in terms of his sexuality when prompted.

Excerpts below:

GQ: Let’s talk about your open letter on Tumblr. Posting that must’ve felt like the hardest way.
Frank Ocean: Yes, absolutely.

GQ: So why did you do it? Were some people raising questions about the male pronouns in a few of the songs?
Frank Ocean: I had Skyped into a listening session that Def Jam was hosting for Channel Orange, and one of the journalists, very harmlessly—quotation gestures in the air, “very harmlessly”—wrote a piece and mentioned that. I was just like, “Fuck it. Talk about…
