May 2015 > The Season 6 Return of GD’s A Touch of Grace

GD’s A Touch of Grace

After the release of his fifth self-published novel, “Ripped & Ready (season 3)” GD ramped up for a new endeavor in radio, and on September 2, 2010 his first #BlogTalkRadio show premiered.  His first two guest were two literary colleagues from two different sides of the tracks — one a former prison inmate-hustler, single father, turned author — the other, an accredited  teacher and single father first time author.  The intense on-air climate of cultural differences on the show, at one point, became thick enough to slice with a butter knife, however, it was a very successful event.  Despite the clash over marketing approaches both authors remained professional and the outcome was a highly entertaining and interesting show.

The seasons that followed incorporated talent from all walks of creativity, so in addition to the authors, GD’s guest lineup included poets and recovering addicts, motivational speakers and entrepreneurs, filmmakers and professionals in sports training and health, and also established artists from highly successful television shows, as well as, NAACP & Grammy Winners. Many shows gave us an inside glimpse inside the lives of legends from Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Ray Goodman & Brown, Bruce A. Hawes (extraordinary writer for the Sounds of Philadelphia), Gerald Alston of The Manhattans, The Delphonics, Howard Hewett, and Chris Jasper of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recognized Isley Brothers. Legends of literary Stanley Bennett Clay and James Earl Hardy also brought their distinct creative prowess to the show, as did professionals from the Broadway stage.

GD’s show eventually caught the attention of World Media and through this friendship many of the legends mentioned above were tapped to be guests on the show.  His friend, and often times, mentor, Wayne Barros became an influential part of the legacy that he was creating one show at time.  His friendship, love, and direction helped enforce an inner-confidence in GD which allowed him to stretch his producing skills so the show would have an entertaining variety for the live listener and archive listeners. Between the two audience variations the show has been listened to by over 40,000 people.  It has been successful beyond GD’s wildest dreams, and as Season 6 approaches, the adrenalin within him increases.

He begins assembling the guest list next month in April 2015, and…

Urban Caesar: Heir to the City of Kings – the riveting forthcoming novel by BIG ROB ruiz

BIG ROB ruiz

BIG ROB is an urban-fiction writer and non-fiction story-teller from the then gritty Wicker Park/Humboldt Park neighborhoods in Chicago. Most of his child-hood friends fell into a life of drugs, gangs, and crime. Many of them met an untimely demise and some of them were put behind bars for life. He credits his escape from a similar fate to the strong iron-fist rule of his father and the gentle hand of his mother. He chose to pursue a career in law enforcement to attempt to reach out to the teens in his community and to mentor inmates that possibly weren’t facing too much time and attempt to steer them in the right direction. The urban jungle he grew up in and what he endured with his friends in the hood was far more humane than what he absorbed as an officer of the law. In the state pen and county jail between the age of 19 – 26 BIG ROB witnessed horrific acts by human beings that most only see in the movies. The level of violence and indifference for human life was just simply ungodly  Everyday was a struggle for survival, not just for the inmates but the officers as well. He knew he needed a change to save his own soul. In the years after his “retirement” it was difficult for him to let go of the temper, distrust and aggressive nature that he developed. He turned to the tranquil breezes of Puerto Rico, boxing, and writing as an escape. He wrote essays and short stories of the things he had gone through behind the walls and razor-wire. Upon compiling many stories he realized that he probably had good material to write novels. In 2008 a journey began to create novels out of the situations he witnessed and experienced, stories he was told by murderers, thieves, gang-bangers and other inmates, and his own upbringing in one of the toughest hoods of the 70’s and 80’s rumble eras. BIG ROB brings raw emotion, passion, experience of the hood and prison system, and first-hand accounts from some of the most vicious gangsters and killers of the modern era. Stay tuned to BIG ROB’s debut Street-Lit aka Urban-Fiction novel entitled – Urban Caesar: Heir to the City of Kings.

The Hodgetwins – (The next big thing?) – An Author G D Grace Exclusive!

And of dreams…  ”

The Hodgetwins” broadcast shows on Youtube are a hoot!  The twins have an uncanny resemblance to one another, but if you’ve ever watched any of their shows, you can tell which one is Keith and which one is Kevin.

Some of their racier broadcasts deal with issues in the bedroom ranging from the anatomical to the extra-curricular.  They get the subject of the day from emails sent by viewers of the show.
They begin each broadcast by making the goofy faces in front of the camera and,  unless you are void of all humor, it really puts you in a mood and prepares you for what follows.   After getting you into the Hodgetwins mood,  they read an email from an anonymous sender.  After reading it, they offer their perspective and advice.

Special note to the viewer:  Their facial expressions are hilarious!
Anyone who has ever watched them are familiar with some of the commonly used terms  such as “Mushroom Tip” and “Sugar Walls”….

I’ll leave it at that.  (he he he)

They also have a fitness broadcast too, and when you look at some of their earlier shows you can see that they have really toned up (and trimmed down the afros – LOL).

Upon hearing about the great news about them shooting a pilot show in spring 2013 that will be filmed live in New York, I had to elaborate on witnessing what could possibly be one of the next great things that began on Youtube.

askhodgetwins Youtube:

Their charisma and humor are undeniably infectious, and if I have to call it, I believe that, if marketed right, they will become huge mainstream personalities.  Heck, in my eyes they already are. ~GD
